Police have arrested Tameshwar Beekham, who is wanted in connection with his recent Facebook ranting on “assassinating” the former President and Leader of the Opposition, Dr. Bharrat Jagdeo along with other People’s Progressive Party Civic (PPP/C) parliamentarians.
It was reported that Beekham was arrested and detained at the Springlands Police Station in Corentyne, Berbice  following police searches in the area.
Crime Chief Wendell Blandhum confirmed these reports.
beekamTameshwar took to his Facebook page, where he ranted over the idealisation of the APNU/AFC government’s accomplishments and visions of Former President, L.F.S. Burnham, and openly stated his intentions to target the PPP’s Freedom House headquarters and “murder” Jagdeo and  as well as other PPP/C officials.
Beekham had also pointed out on his Facebook page his encounters with the police relating to the same issue, but was not desisting from his ranting.
Police ‘B’ Division Commander and Assistant Commissioner, Ian Amsterdam had indicated that ranks in Berbice were searching for Beekham.
Just recently Police had detained a 52-year-old woman, who was believed to have posted racially-inciting social media comments about African Guyanese, and what appeared to be a threat to President David Granger.
The woman has since been passed through the courts and was charged for attempting to excite hostility on the grounds of race contrary to Section 2 (1) (C) of the Racial Hostility Act, Chapter 23:01 of the Criminal Offences Act. Her Facebook post stated that “Granger want a bullet in head…I am out of a job now because of them.”
