Desmond Gordon, 50, a cane harvester at Albion Sugar Estate was not required to plead to the indictable charge before Magistrate Marisa Mittleholzer.

It is alleged that on May 9 at Hose Hall, Gordon murdered Bhagmattie Etwaru, 50, also of Rose Hall.

During his appearance, the accused seemed emotionless when Magistrate Mittleholzer read the charge to him. He left the docks with a slight smile on his face.

He was unrepresented and has been remanded to prison with the case scheduled to continue on June 3.

According to reports, Gordon allegedly killed Etwaru, his reputed wife of eight years, following an argument.
