UPDATE: Vigilance resident dies in two-vehicle smash-up on West Bank

Macessia Henry, 41 of lot 18 Vigilance North, East Coast Demerara took his last breath on Sunday evening following a two-vehicle collision along the Schoonard Access Road, West Bank Demerara.

The accident has left Clarence Beaton, 39, of Brusche Dam, Buxton, East Coast Demerara in a critical condition. Jermaine Gray of Patentia, West Bank Demerara, who was also injured in the accident,  is said to be in stable condition.

Based on updated reports received, Beaton was driving his motor vehicle bearing registration number PSS 7212 and was heading out of Parfaite Harmonie when he lost control of the vehicle and crashed into the other car which was travelling in the opposite direction. Beaton was reportedly driving at a fast rate of speed.

INews understands that the occupants of the car driven by Beaton were at a birthday celebration in Parfaite Harmonie and were heading home to the East Coast of Demerara when the accident occurred. Several Guinness bottles and food boxes were seen in the car which indicated that the driver might have been driving under the influence.

smash-2INews was told that at least three people were taken to the West Demerara regional hospital following the accident; two were treated and sent away while Gray was admitted.
