[www.inewsguyana.com] – A minibus driver will be spending Christmas behind bars after he was found in possession of over 5Kilograms of weed in a vehicle that was transporting a police officer.
According to a police statement, on Friday December 11, 2015, a female Detective Constable was in a mini-bus on the Corentyne, Berbice, during which she got the scent of cannabis sativa (marijuana) in the vehicle.
The Constable requested that 45-year-old Sheldon Simon, of Sheet Anchor, East Canje, Berbice to drive the vehicle into Springlands Police Station Compound where the vehicle was searched.
Simon, was arrested after 5 kilograms 470 grams of marijuana were found in his possession.
He was charged with trafficking in narcotics and appeared at the No. 51 Magistrate Court where he pleaded not guilty and was remanded to prison until December 29, 2015.
