[www.inewsguyana.com]A bus driver was remanded to prison by Chief Magistrate Priya Beharry for wounding a bus conductor.

Thirty – two – year old Dwayne Darrel of Craig Street Georgetown was not required to plead to the charge which stated that on October 21 in Georgetown, he maliciously wounded Shemroy Victor.

Attorney – at – Law Paul Fung – A – Fat represented the accused and while making an application for reasonable bail told the court that the complainant took away a passenger from his client.

The lawyer stated that the complainant attacked his client first and as a result Darrel acted in self defense. The court heard that on the day of the incident, the complainant was loading his minibus and an argument ensued between the two about a passenger.

It is alleged that the accused then armed himself with a scissors and dealt the complainant several stabs about his body. The prosecutor said that the complainant is still hospitalized as a result of the incident.

The Magistrate refused bail and Darrel is expected to return to court on October 30. [Royan Abrams]
