[www.inewsguyana.com] – Former President, Donald Ramotar has confirmed that Bharrat Jagdeo will be the leader of the Opposition People’s Progressive Party.

Ramotar made the announcement at a press conference held at Freedom House this morning, where he said that this decision was taken as part of the transition to young leaders in the PPP.

Ramotar says he will remains a member of the PPP but he will not be running for office in the future unless something “dramatic” happens.

Ramotar has been struck off the PPP’s list of Parliamentarians, even though he is the immediate past president. Jagdeo on the other hand has always stated that he is not interested in being in Parliament or occupying any constitutional position.

iNews will provide more details from the press conference in a subsequent report.

  1. I will be attending the Guyana Parliament as often as possible, and I am certain that I’ll be entertained by some fiery speeches by the indomitable dr, dr, dr, dr, dr, dr, dr, Bharrat Jagdeo; the man from UNITY. It will most certainly be a parliament when the government benches will get the opportunity to STAY AWAKE. No bloody sleeping on the job! And NO playing games on your cell phone as former MP Manzor Nadir was caught doing back then. Bharrat Jagdeo is still in town. Bharrat Jagdeo still has his fans. Bharrat Jagdeo still has contributions to make. Bravo! God Bless Guyana.

  2. Congrats sir, just that you know you are going to the national assembly with the backings of 206,000 votes as a single party where as the government took 5 separate parties and the help of the ABC countries to help rig the elections.
