Breaking: Mayor Chase-Green’s son shot, robbed by lone gunman

Mayor of Georgetown, Patricia Chase-Green has confirmed that her eldest son is now in a stable condition at the Georgetown Public Hospital following a shooting on the West Bank of Demerara during the wee hours of this morning.

The injured man was identified as Richard Mittleholzer, 46, of North East La Penitence.

Based on reports received, the incident occurred around 01:30hrs while Mittleholzer was imbibing at a bar located at Middle Street, Pouderoyen, West Bank Demerara. He was reportedly celebrating his birthday which was yesterday.
The Mayor’s son was allegedly approached by a lone gunman who relieved him of his diamond bracelet, and chain.
However, after he reportedly put up a struggle with the bandit, he was shot. The perpetrator then fled the scene.
Public spirited citizens rushed the North East La Penitence resident to the West Demerara Regional Hospital where he was subsequently transferred.
Up to press time, no one has been arrested. Investigations are ongoing.
