Brazilian nationals among robbery suspects who opened fire on officers in Lethem

A .38 revolver, a 9mm magazine and 42 live rounds of ammunition were found in the house
Acting on information, ranks went to a house at Tabatinga, Lethem about 22:30hrs last night and on arrival were forced to take cover as several rounds were fired at them from inside of the building.
 
This is according to Police Public Relations and Press officer Superintendent Jairam Ramlakhan who said that investigators from ‘F’ Division were at the time probing a robbery that occurred on Tuesday morning and in which three suspects implicated in the robbery were apprehended.
However, on Tuesday night, the police acting on a tip off in relation to the same robbery went to the Lethem house when the standoff occurred.
Ramlakhan said that the area was cordoned off and “the lawmen using their tactical training subsequently gained entry into the building and arrested four persons inclusive of two females who are Brazilian nationals.”

A .38 revolver, a 9mm magazine and 42 live rounds of ammunition were found in the house.
