‘Blackberry’ granted bail on larceny, possession of narcotics charges

A 23-year-old man known as ‘Blackberry’ was, yesterday, slapped with larceny and possession of narcotics charges when he appeared at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan.

Kendal Lewis of Lot 12 Nimrod Street, Anns Grove, East Coast Demerara, pleaded not guilty to the charges which alleged that on March 7, at Aranka Backdam, Region Seven (Cuyuni-Mazaruni), he stole seven pennyweights of raw gold valued $77,000; property of Samantha Marsha.

Also, it is alleged that on the same day at the same location, he had in his possession two grams of cannabis (ganja).
Police Prosecutor Deniro Jones had no objections to bail and it was granted in the sum of $30,000.
Lewis will make his next appearance in the Bartica Magistrates’ Court on March 30.
