Better Hope man shot during foiled robbery

A 31-year-old Better Hope, East Coast Demerara resident was on Monday night shot by a lone gunman following a robbery attempt in front of his home.

Terrence Ramlochan, a contractor, received one gunshot wound to his left rib and is presently in a stable condition at a private hospital.

Based on information received, the incident occurred around 21:00hrs last night as Ramlochan arrived home from work. He was in the process of opening his gate when he was approached by a man armed with a hand gun.

The suspect reportedly demanded that the now injured man turn over his cash and mobile phone. However, Ramlochan reportedly refused and attempted to disarm his attacker.

This led to a brief scuffle which ended with a single shot being fired at the victim. The perpetrator immediately fled the scene.
