Berbice residents allegedly busted with Marijuana during stop and search

[www.inewsguyana.com] – Two Berbice residents were arrested on Tuesday, February 24 in connection with the illegal possession of marijuana.

Adrian Simon, 24 of Lot 46 Stanley Town New Amsterdam Berbice and Keron Thompson, 32 of No. 22 Village Bel Air West Coast Berbice were arrested during separate stop and search exercise by the Guyana Police Force.

iNews understands that Simon was arrested and taken into police custody at the Central Police Station after he was observed by ranks on a police mobile patrol acting in a suspicious manner while walking through a street in Vryman’s Erving.

The ranks found a quantity of leaves, seeds and stems suspected to be cannabis in a haversack which Simon had in his possession. The items were then weighed in his presence at the police station where it amounted to 815 grammes; he is expected to be charged soon.

Meanwhile, Thompson was found with a parcel wrapped in plastic while he was riding shotgun in a Fielder Wagon along the West Coast Berbice Public Road. Upon opening the parcel, police found a quantity of leaves, seeds and stem also suspected to be cannabis. The items amounted to 699 grammes.
