Bandits have again pounced upon the Berbice business community; this time attacking Lomenza Johnny, also called “Sham”, at his JC Chandisingh Street, Rose Hall, Region Six business place.
According to reports reaching INews, at about 12:00h, two armed men walked into Johnny’s Grocery Store and held the owner at gunpoint, demanding cash.
INews understands that businessman was forced to hand over $300,000 to the gunmen who then quickly exited the premises and made good their escape.
According to Johnny, by the time he managed to raise an alarm, the men were far gone.
Police responded in a timely manner and immediately went into the community in search of the gunmen.
Divisional Commander, Assistant Commissioner Ian Amsterdam, said no one has been arrested, but from all indications, the robbery was committed by a known gang operating out of Rose Hall.
The Police are currently looking for some of the gang members to assist with the investigations into this and other similar matters.
