The incident occurred at the Sookpaul Service Station of Springlands, Corriverton, Region Six (East Berbice-Corentyne) on Thursday morning.

According to reports, the two cutlass-wielding bandits approached the pump attendant and relieved him of approximately $45,000 in cash. The duo then proceeded to fill their bags with commodities from the coolers nearby.

However, several gunshots rang out a short distance away from the gas station, startling the bandits.

Inews understands that the robbery was recorded on CCTV cameras and one of the gas station’s owners, who is a licensed firearm holder, responded by discharging several rounds in the air.

This resulted in the bandits immediately dropping the bags with the items they removed from the coolers and disappearing. They, however, escaped with the stolen money.
