Bagotstown man accused of choking, dragging mother from parked car

Thirty – seven – year old Errol DeFreitas of Bagotstown Georgetown appeared before Chief magistrate Priya Beharry charged with grievous bodily harm which he allegedly committed against his mother, Janette De Freitas.

He was also charged with malicious wounding which he allegedly committed against Alfred Hope. The accused pleaded not guilty to both offences.

According to the allegations, on July 17 in Georgetown Alfred Hope and the accused had an exchange of words when the accused became annoyed and dealt Hope a lash to his face.

In relation to the grievous bodily harm charge, it is alleged that the accused choked and dragged his mother out of a parked car. The Chief Magistrate granted the accused bail in the sum of $90,000 for both offences and bonded him to keep the peace pending the termination of the matter.
