A statement from CJIAC said Hopkinson received his $51,000 from the Deputy Chief Executive Officer, Andre Kellman on April 20, 2016.

It said the staff lottery is an initiative of the CJIAC Board of Directors. Every month, from January 2016, seven of the eight Directors contribute their stipends to the fund.

They are Stephen Fraser, Chairman; Ramesh Ghir, Vice Chairman and Directors Gillian Pollard, Nadira Jaikaran, Gerhard Ramsaroop, Stuart Hughes and Sherwood Clarke.

ASOs Shareefa Yansen and Shivanie Sooklall were January and February winners respectively.

To be eligible for the lottery, employees must be permanent staff; earn a basic salary less than $100,000 per month and have no written or pending action three months prior to draw.

According to CJIAC, the winners will only be allowed to benefit from the lottery once per year, therefore their names will be removed from the eligible list until the process recommences the next calendar year.
