Autopsy finds missing ECD teen murdered

The young girl of Two Friends Village, East Coast Demerara (ECD, whose body was found floating in a canal on Tuesday last was murdered.

This is according to the post-mortem report which stated that the teen died as a result of asphyxiation and blunt trauma.

The report confirmed the suspicion of family of the teen who suspected foul play.

On Monday, Malika Hamilton, 14, of Lot 11 Two Friends Village and a former student of Hope Secondary School went missing.

According to reports, the teen was last seen in the company of two boys. However, the two boys told her family that they dropped her off at a canal in the village after she said that she was going to visit her grandmother.

Hamilton never showed up and after several calls to family enquiring of her whereabouts, the matter was reported to the Police.

The family then launched a search on Monday evening but came up empty handed.

The search was resumed on Tuesday when the ghastly discovery was made.

A man identified only as “Buck” saw the young woman’s body floating in the Hope Canal.

Her family was alerted and the teen’s body was pulled from the canal.

Following the discovery, relatives told INews that the teen’s neck appeared to have been broken.

The girl’s mother, Latisha Cambridge is now calling for justice.

The Police have launched an investigation into the killing.
