[www.inewsguyana.com] – The APNU+AFC Coalition has condemned the attack on former magistrate, Fazil Azeez who was shot by a lone gunman on Saturday at Eccles, East Bank Demerara.
The coalition in a statement noted that Azeez suffered internal injuries and is in a stable condition at a city hospital after emergency surgery.
“The Coalition wishes him a complete and speedy recovery and also offers words of comfort and support to Azeez’s family, relatives and friends.”
According to the statement, the Coalition received credible reports that Azeez was not robbed during the attack.
“Azeez is known for his principled stance against corruption, crime and poor governance. Azeez was a friend of APNU+AFC and is especially close to Prime Ministerial candidate Moses Nagamootoo. The two practiced together after studying and graduating from the Hugh Wooding Law School, University of West Indies in 2002,” the statement noted.
According to the coalition, Azeez served as General Manager of the Guyana Broadcasting Corporation while Nagamootoo served as Minister of Information.
“Azeez was also one of the Muslim leaders who met with Presidential Candidate David Granger and Prime Ministerial Candidate Nagamootoo on Thursday last. The Coalition appeals to the Muslim community of the West Coast and West Bank Demerara to stand firm in this difficult time.”
iNews had reported that Azeez visited the construction site at Eccles to pay his employees when a man entered and inquired from the contractor if there were any jobs available.
The contractor responded in the negative and according to reports, the man then whipped out a gun and shot Azeez in the chest before fleeing the scene.

I am confused! Earlier this month at the Albion Rally, Mr. Jagdeo suggested to the crowd that the soldiers will not be friendly to the supporters of the PPP. He spoke about ‘doors being kicked down……….’ Et cetera . Now he is asking for the votes of the military and policeman. Does Mr . Jagdeo think that the military have no feelings and pride in their professionalism? Why should they give you their votes? If you give them more food and salary increases, you did them no favors. You accused them of not wanting to go after the criminals et cetera. But, we learned about the closure of a crime fighting unit of the army by Mr. Jagdeo himself, when he was the President. Mr. Jagdeo, sir, you speak with a forked tongue! You maligned these soldiers, sir. You used humiliating words sir, against these sons and daughters of Guyana, who chose to be soldiers. You cast aspersions on their professionalism! And now, lol and behold, you ask for their votes! Sir, the thinking people of this country should be able to reason for themselves what they are up against. You do not speak like a statesman. You do not come across as sincere. You are so abrasive, so ultra aggressive, so full of anger, so hateful! And an ex- president to boot! You , sir, are so full of self-loathing! It shows, sir!

Mr. PNC phantom, Why would you say that Fazil is not a pawn? Were you going to make him a pawn? First of all the Muslim community never endorsed you crooked Riggers! Andrew, you seems to know something about the shooting. Or is it a case that Fazil set you guys up and he became a liability to the PNC? PNC should not be trusted.
I know some people may want to blame the PNC for the shooting because the Muslim communities refute the PNC claim. But everyone need to know that the muslim community has endorsed us. Fazil Azeez is not a pawn.
