[www.inewsguyana.com] – A Partnership for National Unity (APNU) has taken umbrage by the recent statement by Home Affairs Minister Clement Rohee that he will demonstrate his strength to full capacity if the planned APNU countrywide protests calling for local government elections are not peaceful.

At a press conference today, Friday, September 26, APNU’s Member of Parliament and Shadow Home Affairs Minister, Winston Felix said the Party has taken this statement as a ‘threat’ by the Security Minister.

“We are taking those statements from Mr. Rohee as a serious threat, but I want to tell Mr. Rohee that the only strengthen he has is to misuse state resources, misuse the Police as was done in Linden and then he ran in a corner and hid, that’s the only power he has,” Felix said.

Rohee had said at the PPP/C’s weekly press conference last Tuesday (September, 23), “If Mr. Granger thinks that I am weak, you know he has launched a countrywide protest action to hasten the government’s signature on a number of Bills, well I would like Mr. Granger and I am not threatening anybody or warning but I am just saying that he announced that these things will be peaceful and so forth and I hope that they will all be peaceful because if they are not peaceful and should there be any diversions from the peacefulness of any of those protest activities organized by Mr. Granger resulting in upsetting the peace and good order of our country, then he will see who is really too weak to fight.”

Granger had accused Rohee of being weak. In response, Rohee said Granger “will see who is too weak to fight.”

Felix said the Home Affairs Minister continues to micro manage the Police Force. As such, he warned “Rohee had better keep out, I am watching every move.”
