As Public Works Minister Robeson Benn added his contribution to the debate in Parliament, A Partnership for National Unity [APNU] Parliamentarian, Vanessa Kissoon heckled the Minister by stating, “Like father, like son.”
Minister Benn’s son is currently accused of beating and raping his ex – girlfriend.
Following Kissoon’s remark, Government’s Chief Whip, Gail Teixeira asked the Speaker of the House, Raphael Trotman for Kissoon to withdraw the statement.
In his intervention, Mr. Trotman stated, “We all have children…leave family out of it, things happen in the past and there will be future allegations.”
In response, Kissoon apologized for her statement, while Minister Benn stated that he is not surprised by any statements coming from Kissoon.
