The Guyana Police Force (GPF) has given the ‘all-clear’ for normal programming to resume at the University of Guyana following a bomb threat on Tuesday.

The Turkeyen Campus was evacuated at around 13:00h after a call was placed to the Alberttown Police Station by an anonymous person who indicated that a bomb was planted on the said campus.

Following the evacuation, a building to building search of the educational facility was carried out by both the Guyana Police Force and Guyana Fire Service.

The search however, revealed no explosives of any kind nor were any suspicious packages or items located. Following the thorough sweep of the campus the ‘all-clear’ was given for full operations to resume.

However, the University is asking anyone with information regarding the bomb threat to make contact with the University Safety and Security Officer on 623-9979 or the nearest police station.

Tuesday’s threat came days after a similar threat was made on the School of the Nations, Queen’s College and the Bishop’s High School.
