Randy Barrack, 43, of lot 34 Albouys Street, Albouystown was today released on $100,000 bail by Magistrate Leron Daly after he appeared in the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts slapped with two counts of assault charges and a simple larceny charge.

Barrack denied all three of the charges when it was read to him.

It is alleged that on July 2, with intent to prevent lawfully apprehension he assaulted police constable Mark Griffith. Another charge stated that on the same day in question he also unlawfully assaulted Ryan Pollard.

According to the prosecution’s facts, the officers went to the man’s house to arrest him in connection with a robbery committed on Cindy Ramnaresh.

However in the process the man refused to be arrested and Griffith was dealt several lashes on his right hand.

Police Prosecutor Sanj Singh objected to bail being granted and told the court that he was previously arraigned with possession of firearm without being the holder of a valid licence at the time.

Further, the man was released on $80,000 bail for the assault charges and $20,000 bail for the simple assault charge.

The matter will continue later in July.
