The Community Centre Ground’s renovation was adopted by the Guyana Police Force after residents in the community indicated to the police that the facility in vital in keeping the young people of the community gainfully occupied.
Assistant Commissioner of Police, Clifton Hicken and all Sub Divisional Officers and senior ranks of the Police ‘A’ Division were present at the opening which saw the top cop encouraging residents to ensure that they maintain the ground so that the police can channel other resources and energies towards other projects in the community.
Commander Hicken echoed the sentiments of the Top Cop as he reminded the community members that the initiative was made possible not only by the police but the many partners who contributed their time and finances to make the project a reality.
The facility was also gifted as a grant from the Ministry of Culture Youth and Sports while other support was given by the Ministry of Public Works and its engineering department.
Top Cop Persaud also kicked off the first ball in a game of Agricola Vs. the Police at which the winning team was rewarded $50,000 compliments of the Guyana Police Force.
