AFC’s National Conference slated for December 6

[www.inewsguyana.com] – General Secretary of the Alliance for Change (AFC) David Patterson has confirmed that the AFC’s biannual National Conference will be held on December 06, 2014.

The Party was forced to postpone its constitutionally due conference in October as discussions were being held on the passage of a successful no confidence motion against the Donald Ramotar administration.

It was anticipated that the no confidence motion would have been debated this week, however Ramotar used his constitutional powers and prorogued the Parliament ahead of that debate.

 

Patterson said the agenda for the Conference remains the same and will see the election of the Executive Representatives of the Party along with other committees.

Patterson at said at the time of the postponement that “several of the agenda items at our scheduled National Conference were linked to a successful passage of the No Confidence vote.”

Among the items that are listed to be dealt with at the Party’s Congress is the election of a Presidential Candidate for the party. Four of the party’s senior members have been nominated for the post.

Cathy Hughes, the lone female, was nominated on October 5 along with three other AFC members, namely: Khemraj Ramjattan, Nigel Hughes and Moses Nagamootoo.

Already, the Party’s current Leader, Khemraj Ramjattan has endorsed the nomination of Moses Nagamootoo.
