[www.inewsguyana.com] – The Alliance for Change (AFC) has provided evidence in which Attorney – at – Law, Jaya Manickchand [sister of Education Minister, Priya Manickchand] acted on behalf of Johnny Welshman, who is alleging that Speaker of the National Assembly, Raphael Trotman raped him some ten years ago.
Manickchand during an interview with another online news entity sought to distance herself from the young man and reportedly stated that he has not retained her services.
The AFC in a statement provided four text messages sent from a mobile phone, reportedly owned by Manickchand to Trotman, who is also an Executive Member of the AFC.

According to the AFC, “It is evident that Ms. Manickchand acted extensively on behalf of Mr. Welshman and was deeply involved in representing his interests. Further it is the belief of the AFC that Mr. Welshman and his representatives and associates are part of an elaborate politically motivated plot to entrap Mr. Trotman in an attempt to derail the impending No Confidence Motion.”
“The AFC calls on Ms. Manickchand, a former PPP nominated GECOM commissioner, to frankly admit her full role. The party believes that any attempt whether by Ms. Manickchand, her representatives or agents or anyone else, to create a public impression that she has not been acting on behalf of Mr. Welshman would be disingenuous, wicked and false.”
The young man in question made damning revelations on his Facebook Page against the Speaker, stating that he had sexual intercourse with him some ten years ago. He has since made a report to the Guyana Police Force.
Trotman on the other hand, has denied the allegations, claiming that the young man is unstable “…who sadly, appears to have a troubled mind. I categorically deny his wicked assertions.”
I dont think anyone should come to a conclusion on this issue; it wud be unfair to all parties involved. Im not a supporter of any political group. Mr. Trotman has the right to defend himself.it is time the adults of this nation deal with issues as matured ppl.

If you read the thing properly you will see that Jaya is trying to protect Trott butt, pardon the word! The AFC should thank her. But yes the young man has to be protected. He too has rights. In these matters it is always convenient to blame the victim. And that is what is happening. Lets see what the police findings come up with but the young man needs an attorney, maybe more than one.

if Ms Jaya cannot, then the state must provide legal representation.
This is a Guyanese and as such the Government of Guyana must look after its citizens in need.
The AFC can assume, guess or whatever wild scheme they are capable of pulling out of thin air. Fact remain, a young man claimed that he was sexually molested.
I have seen alleged criminals defended pro bono by Mr Hughes, is there no lawyer who can defend this badly wounded young man?
If no one can defend this young man, he should widen his appeal to his community or even go foreign.
isnt it amazing afc can talk to de press about de case but not the victim? afc moved to the court. the court gag de victim. something not right with tratman from day one i see he. he does walk and wiggle. trust me.. take a look see for yourself. he still walk n wiggle to dis day
