Accountant remanded to prison for allegedly threatening wife with cutlass

DSC05167A man was today remanded to prison when he appeared before Magistrate Judy Latchman charged with threatening behaviour. Forty – two – year old Andrew Ramroop of 85 David Street Kitty Georgetown pleaded not guilty to the charge which read that on September 06 at Kitty Georgetown, he threatened his reputed wife Amanda Kissoon with a cutlass.

The man, who claimed to be an Accountant, told the court that he was never in any problem with the law before and that today was his first appearance. However, police prosecutor Vishnu Hunt noted that the accused was previously before the court for break and enter and larceny and that he was convicted for an arson attack where he set fire to a house. Based on the mentioned circumstances, the Magistrate refused bail and the accused will return to court on September 20. [Royan Abrams]
