8 seriously injured after two buses collide

Some eight persons were rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) for medical attention after two buses collided on Norton and Hailey Streets this morning.

According to eyewitness, a Route 42 minibus BVV 6909 which was reportedly carrying a number of Cubans and was also driven by a Cuban was proceeding along Cemetery Road but failed to stop at the intersection.

At the said time, a Route 41 minibus BWW 1782 which was driving along Norton Street attempted to make a turn at the intersection but collided with the other bus.

Upon impact, the Route 41 bus which was being driven by 49-year-old, Anthony Chester slammed into a lantern post before toppling into a nearby trench.

The Cuban driver was taken into police custody as investigation into the accident continues.
