At least six school aged children are said to be a in a critical state following an accident in the vicinity of the Rising Sun area on the West Coast of Berbice.

The accident was confirmed by Police “B” Division Commander, Ian Amsterdam who said that it occurred “a couple hours ago.”

When Inews made contact with him, however, he had not received a full report of what transpired, but this online publication was informed by other sources that a minibus attached to a private school collided with another bus, reportedly travelling in the opposite direction.

The school bus was occupied by approximately 20 other students who reportedly received minor injuries.

They were rushed to the Mahaicony Regional Hospital by public spirited persons, while the six children –ranging from ages 3 to 10- who reportedly received “open head injuries and broken limbs” were taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital.
