58 months jail for man found guilty of armed robbery

[www.inewsguyana.com] – Nico Layne, who has been on remand for quite some time for the offence of robbery underarms, has been sentenced to 58 months in prison, after he was found guilty of the offence by Magistrate Judy Latchman at the end of a trial.

The facts of the case state that on May 06, 2015 at West Ruimveldt, Georgetown being in possession of a gun, he robbed Shafeek Mohamed of one cellular phone and $39,000 cash.

He had pleaded not guilty to the offense. Magistrate Latchman in her final ruling, said that the virtual complainant during his testimony revealed that he saw the face of his attacker through his rearview mirror in his car, while he was being robbed at gun point.
