56-year-old miner chopped to death for employers gold mats

A 56-year-old miner of Moco Moco Village, Central Rupununi, identified as Damon Scipio also known as Rastaman, was brutally chopped to death allegedly by one of his co-workers between 23: 00hrs last night (Friday) and 06:00hrs (Saturday) this morning, at BK Old Road Backdam, Potaro River.
This is according to the police who in a report said that investigations so far revealed that the victim who was employed by a small-scale mining company at 111 miles Madhia, was performing duties at the company’s watch camp, guarding a sluice box with two gold mats, when he was fatally chopped three times to his head and once to his left wrist, almost severing it. 
The gold mats have been stolen.
The body of Scipio is at the Madhia Hospital Mortuary awaiting a post-mortem examination.
According to the police, homicide detectives are making stringent efforts to quickly apprehend the “co-worker who is the prime suspect for the murder,” as investigations continues.
