[www.inewsguyana.com] – A mother is calling on the police to act swiftly in investigating and laying charges against a man who allegedly sexually assaulted her 11 – year – old daughter on Monday [August 11] in Region 3.
During an interview with iNews, the child’s mother explained that her daughter, who attends computer classes, met the man for the first time last week Friday.
The child asked the man for a telephone call after she did not see her grandfather, who was supposed to pick her up from classes. When the phone call was granted, the child telephoned her mother; however, the mother is alleging that the man thought the child rang her own phone.
She alleged that he texted the number with the belief that he was texting the 11 – year – old girl. After receiving the first two text messages, the mother realised that the messages were not really for her but for her young daughter.
She then questioned her daughter about the messages when she was told by the child that she borrowed a man’s phone to call her on Friday. The mother then began texting the man, pretending to be child.
It was during those messages that the man allegedly began sending sexually suggestive messages and arranging to meet with the child. He allegedly told her what to wear when coming to see him and what excuse she should give her parents to leave the home.
The mother along with other relatives then set up a sting operation to catch the man and hand him over to the police, however, the man outsmarted the relatives and lured the child to a house, where he allegedly touched her and kissed her on the lips.
The child then immediately forced her way out of the home and was rescued by her relatives, who saw her running out of the house.
The police were immediately summoned and the man was arrested on Monday and is presently in police custody.
