55-yr-old pedal cyclist killed in Mahaica accident

Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding a fatal accident that occurred about 05:20 hrs today (Thursday), on the Hand-en-Veldt Public Road in Mahaica, East Coast Demerara which resulted in the death of 55-year-old pedal cyclist Edmond Smith.

Police said its investigations so far revealed that the pedal cyclist, who hails from Helena No. 1, Mahaica, was proceeding along the roadway when he is alleged to have swerved into the path of a motor vehicle and was struck down.  He received injuries and was taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital where he was pronounced ‘dead on arrival’.

The driver of the vehicle is in police custody assisting with the investigations.

    Children need to know the hard facts of Guyana. It is what happens, and you should grow them up, not terrified, but sensitised. You cannot muzzle the bad state of affairs the country is in to protect the children in it. They too are getting hit and run over. smh

  3. I don’t appreciate the gross articles on suicide, accidents and murders inthe media. Children are reading the articles. Not healthy.
