Five persons were this morning taken into police custody following the discovery of a quantity of illicit drugs, guns and ammunition during several exercises on the East Coast of Demerara (ECD).
The Police stated that between 6:00h and 8:00h on the morning in question, they would have conducted several “cordon and search” operations at Vryheid’s Lust, Montrose, Nabacilis and Plaisance, ECD During which the times were found.
The police confirmed that an unlicensed pistol with a live matching round; 300 grams of suspected cocaine and 45grams of suspected cannabis.
As a result of this, five persons including two females were attested and are assisting with investigations.
The are expected to make their court appearance in the new week. The intelligence-led operations were led by a Superintendent of Police.
