[www.inewsguyana.com] – Thirty-two-year-old Clifton Anthony of Bagotstown, East Bank Demerara was charged for the rape of a 6 – year – old girl in Port Kaituma.
The man appeared at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, April 2. The matter was held ‘in camera’, thus the details surrounding the incident were not released to the public.
iNews (www.inewsguyana.com) had reported that the child was raped while on her way to school on Friday, March 28. Information revealed that Anthony lured the child with sweets and then raped her.
The 6 – year – old related the ordeal to her mother and she was taken to the Port Kaituma Hospital for treatment.
Meanwhile, the same man was also remanded to prison by Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry on a drug possession charge.
He pleaded not guilty to the offence which alleged that on March 28 at Port Kaituma, Region One, he had in his possession 10 grammes of marijuana.
Attorney – at – Law, Paul Fung- A – Fat represented the defendant and told the Court that his client operates a Boutique business at Port Kaituma and that he was not present when the prohibited substance was found.
He will reappear in Court on April 30.
