3 Japanese nationals robbed while sightseeing in Guyana

Police are investigating a Robbery Under Arms committed on three Japanese nationals and taxi driver Abdool Rahim of Canal No. 2, West Bank Demerara (WBD). The incident occurred about 13:10h. on August 09, 2016, at Ogle Seawall, East Coast Demerara (ECD).

robbeyThe victims who are on holiday in Guyana, went sightseeing when they were pounced upon by three males armed with handguns, who relieved them of two cameras valued $560,000, one laptop valued $300,000, $820,000 cash, four cellular phones valued $300,000 and twenty three video tapes valued $106,000.

The men escaped in a motor car without any registration number plate.

Police yesterday arrested a female with one of the stolen articles. She is assisting with the investigation.

  3. LOL SO MUCH for tourism! This government keep lying to the public that GUYANA has a reduced crime rate from the PPP days but the news, media and stats seems to be saying otherwise….Economy is dead, so everyone is stealing for survival….this government is doing NOTHING to help the local people and everything to help themselves….
