The aftermath of the fire on Saturday night

A family of three is now homeless after losing their home in a late night fire on Saturday.

The fire started at about 22:30 hours at the one-storey wooden building – around which an incomplete concrete structure is being constructed.

The house was being rented by Junior Henry, who lived there with his wife, Ravina Ramcharran, along with their son.

At the time of the blaze, the couple was not at home.

According to Henry, he and his wife left home around 22:00 hours to go to a friend’s house. Then about 30 minutes later, he received information that his home was on fire.

Maria Alphonso, a neighbour, related that she was at home when she observed fire coming from the front of the victims’ house.

The Fire Service was alerted and a water tender along with a team of firefighters was dispatched to the scene, where the entire house was engulfed.

The blaze was subsequently extinguished.

Investigations are in progress to determine the cause of the late night fire.

Matter reported to the police on 2026/01/24 at about 22:50 hours.
