Twenty-five years in prison is the sentence for a man who stabbed his wife 150 times, killing her in front of their children some four years ago.

Oscar Novakovsky was on Monday handed down this sentence in a U.S. Court after being charged with attacking and murdering his estranged Guyanese wife, Diane Sharma, on January 15, 2012 in the presence of their young children.

According to a New York Daily News report, Oscar Novakovsky, 41, of 121st. St in South Richmond Hill, NY, attacked Diane Sharma, 32, on January 15, 2012 in front of their three children, who were three, five and nine at the time.

Reports are that the 41-year-old husband had left the knife, which he used to kill his wife, stuck in her neck then fled the scene.

He was caught three blocks away from the scene of the crime after investigators followed a bloody trail from Sharma’s body to his location.

Novakovsky murdered his wife four months after she obtained an order of protection against him.

INews understands that the husband had tried to strangle his Guyanese born wife hence she moved to the Court to file the above-mentioned order against him.

Novakovsky had told the law enforcement officials in New York that his children had been screaming and kept trying to pull him off of their mother while he committed the act. However, this did not prevent him from executing the brutal murder.

“This heinous act committed by a husband against his wife in front of their three small children as they cried and pleaded with him to stop while they attempted to pull him off of her was vicious and unimaginable,” Queens District Attorney Richard Brown said. “The children will have to bear the emotional scars of what they witnessed for the rest of their lives.”

Novakovsky pleaded guilty in March to first-degree manslaughter.

He told cops that his kids were screaming and trying to pull him off of Sharma. (Excerpts from New York Daily News)
