23-year-old granted bail for assault charge

Twenty-three-year-old Dima Gordon, a resident of Cayenne, French Guiana and Amelia’s Ward, Mackenzie, Linden, was granted bail in the sum of $25,000 by Magistrate Clive Nurse on Tuesday after being remanded on an assault charge.

bailIt is alleged that he unlawfully and maliciously assaulted Ashley Mansfield on Tuesday, February 2 at Central Amelia’s Ward. He will make his next court appearance on February 17.

Mansfield, also a French national, was co charged for assaulting Gordon and as a result both had appeared before Magistrate Nurse last week.

Prosecution facts presented to the court indicated that she wounded Gordon to his left hand with a knife on Tuesday, February 2 at approximately 13:20h at Central Amelia’s Ward. As a result of the injuries, the prosecution told the court, Gordon was examined by a doctor at the Linden Hospital Complex (LHC) and a medical certificate was obtained.

Magistrate Nurse after hearing the facts presented by the prosecution, ordered a probation report.

When asked by Magistrate Nurse if she knew that her actions could result in jail time, Mansfield whom the court heard is presently unemployed, responded in the positive.

The charge against her is deemed indictable. The case against Mansfield was adjourned until March16.
