An East Coast Demerara resident was arrested on Saturday afternoon after he was found to be in unlawful possession of a firearm.
About 15:30h on the day in question, Police received information that the man was in possession of an illegal weapon at the Stabroek Market in Georgetown in the vicinity of the Digicel outlet.
After conducting a thorough search on the suspect, who was identified as a 21-year-old construction worker, Police found a .38 revolver on his body. No ammunition was discovered.
The construction worker is expected to be charged and appear in court sometime this week.
