21 – Y – O gets three years jail for Marijuana Possession

[www.inewsguyana.com] – A 21 – year – old farmer was yesterday sentenced to three years imprisonment and fined $30,000 for the possession of Marijuana.

Sydney Davis of Waicahdai Village pleaded guilty to the charge, which stated that on September 18 at Karasbai Police Station, he had in his possession 39.5 grammes of Marijuana.

He was also charged with the offences of threatening language, assaulting a police officer and resisting arrest. He pleaded not guilty to two of these charges and guilty to resisting arrest.

He was fined $10,000 for this offence. The remaining matters were transferred to the Lethem Magistrate’s Court for December 1.
