20 – year – old remanded for armed robbery

[www.inewsguyana.com] – Twenty – year – old Dwight David of West Ruimveldt, Georgetown, charged with robbery under – arms was remanded to prison by Magistrate Faith McGusty on Monday, May 12.

He pleaded not guilty to the charge, which alleged that on May 6 at East Ruimveldt, Georgetown, being in company of others and armed with a gun he robbed Akeem Giddings of two cellular phones valued $30,000.

Police Prosecutor Seon Blackman told the Court that on May 6 around 20:30 hrs, the victim was returning from his grandmother’s home when he was held at gun point by the defendant and relieved of the articles by the other unidentified male.

The Prosecutor said on May 8, the defendant was pointed out to the Police and following a confrontation, he ran into a nearby yard where he was arrested by police ranks.

The matter stands adjourned to May 30.
