A 75-year-old man, Athlone Goring, was found dead at his Stanleytown, West Coast Demerara, house with multiple stab wounds.
According to the Guyana Police Force, the discovery was made on Friday, December 26, 2025 at about 05:40hrs.
Preliminary investigations revealed that Goring, who had recently arrived in Guyana, was found lying in the upper flat of his residence with what appeared to be multiple stab wounds.
He was taken to the West Demerara Regional Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival by a doctor on duty.
The body is at Ezekiel Funeral Home awaiting a post-mortem examination.
Meanwhile, police say several persons were questioned in relation to the matter and two individuals – a 20-year-old male and a 22-year-old female – were arrested and are presently in custody assisting with the investigation.
CCTV footage is being reviewed as investigations continue.
