The sum of $176.1 million was set aside in Budget 2026 to continue operations of the Guyana Digital School Initiative this year.
This was announced by Finance Minister Dr Ashni Singh who noted that over 22,000 students registered with the school last year.
He said it is expected that all grades at the secondary level will have access to the school by March 2026.
Some $310.6 million was spent on the programme last year.
Meanwhile, the sum of $24.3 billion has been set aside in Budget 2026 to complete more than 40 schools across the country as well as to rehabilitate others.
Dr Singh noted that works will also advance on student dormitories.
The Finance Minister reminded that over the last five years, the government commenced construction of more than 100 new schools across the nursery, primary and secondary levels.
