A 14-year-old boy, along with three other men, on Friday, appeared in the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts and stood before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan after they were charged for trafficking 10.078 kilograms (22 lbs) of cocaine which was found in the parking lot of a restaurant in Georgetown.

The men, Ricardo DenHart, 47, Patrick Ram, Denzil Park, 49, and the teen (name withheld) all denied the charge when it was read to them.

The court heard that on August 14, 2018, while at the parking lot of Popeye’s Fast Food restaurant, Vlissengen Road and Duncan Street, Georgetown, they trafficked the prohibited substance.

According to facts presented to the court by Police Prosecutor Gordon Mansfield, on the day in question, ranks of the Customs Anti-Narcotics Unit (CANU) were operating an intelligence led operation when they swooped down on the men.

Further facts alleged that the CANU ranks witnessed when one of the men exited motorcar PWW 8454 and handed a shopping bag to another who was seated in a minibus bearing registration numbers PKK 6944.

Moreover, after listening to the prosecution’s case Magistrate McLennan released the 14-year-old boy on $200,000 bail before remanding the other three accused to prison.

The matter is expected to continue on August 31.
