[www.inewsguyana.com] – The Police on the West Bank of Demerara destroyed three acres of land on which marijuana plants were being cultivated at  La Harmonie Backdam.

iNews has been informed that the weed plants which measured between 4 and 5 feet tall were being cultivated on a plot of land which is owned by a Senior Counsel in Guyana and his wife which was registered to them for the purpose of logging activities.

However iNews has been able to confirm that the couple does not usually visit the land nor is it being utilized for any logging activities. The police are convinced that the persons who have been cultivating the illegal plants on the land were doing so unknowing to the owners.

Persons who traverse the area informed law enforcement offices of the presence of the plants after noticing that they were growing among other vegetation.

Thus far no one has been arrested in connection with the incident. Police are chasing several leads.
