Youth remanded to prison for robbery

Nineteen – year – old Joshua Meredith was today remanded to prison when he appeared Magistrate Fabayo Azore to answer the charge of robbery under arms.

The young man of lot 484 East Ruimveldt, Georgetown pleaded not guilty to the offence. Particulars of the offence stated that on July 03 at Water Street Georgetown he was armed with a handgun and along with two other persons, attacked and robbed Elison Nedd of a quantity of gold jewelery totaling $135,000.

According to the allegations, on the day in question at about 12:50h, the Virtual Complainant [VC] was walking on Water Street, when the accused and two other males approached him and demanded the items.

According to the Prosecutor, based on information received the accused who was positively identified during an identification parade was subsequently arrested.

The accused was represented by Attorney – at – Law Paul Fung – A – Fat, who in a bail application told the court that his client spent three days in prison and that he never gave an oral confession as was disclosed by the prosecutor.
