Eyewitnesses relayed to INews that the woman was clad in a pair of blue jeans and a white blouse, and had just exited Norton Street, Bagotstown East Bank Demerara and was walking towards the public road on the left hand side of the road, when she was struck by the rear wheel of the truck bearing registration number GPP1637.

Hesitantly however, a few persons disclosed that the driver of the truck was distracted as he was on his mobile phone at the time the accident occurred.

The driver seemed to be traumatized, but related to this online publication that it was the dead woman who was on her phone and not him.

He also alleged that he had advised the police to retrieve the woman’s mobile phone and re-dial the last number she called, as a way of discovering her identity.

Crime Scene detectives arrived shortly after the incident and the truck driver was taken into custody to assist in the investigations.
