[www.inewsguyana.com] – A 31- year – old part time taxi driver of Lot 82 West Front Housing Scheme, Georgetown, was placed on a total of $20,000 surety on threatening language and offensive weapon charges.

Leon Totaram pleaded not guilty to both charges, particulars of one alleged that on Saturday, April 12 at Middle Road La Penitence, Georgetown; he had in his possession one knife without lawful authority or reasonable cause.

The other charge stated that on Monday, March 31 at First Street, Alexander Village, Georgetown, he made use of threatening language to Shawn Yassin, where a breach of the peace may be occasioned.

Police Prosecutor Dinero Jones said both the virtual complainant and the defendant are known to each other and reside in the same neighborhood.

The Prosecutor did not relate to the Court how the issue developed between the two men. The defendant was also placed on a bond to keep the peace, pending the determination of the trial.

He was ordered to post $10,000 on each charge and will make his next Court appearance before Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry on May 16.
