Suspected bandit shot and killed, accomplice soundly beaten by public spirited citizens from Pearl village

The Guyana Police Force is currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of 21-year-old Seon Clarke, also called ‘Cash Money’, of Old Road, Land of Canaan, East Bank Demerara.
According to the Police, Clarke and another male were beaten, allegedly  by a group of public spirited citizens from the community at Pearl Village, East Bank Demerara about 22:30hrs last night.
Initial investigations revealed that about 14:00hrs yesterday, the deceased and a male went into a grocery store at Johanna, also on the East Bank of Demerara, and was observed by the proprietor behaving “suspiciously”. The proprietor made his way to the public road and alarmed a policeman who was passing at the time. “The police responded and in the process, he summoned other policemen. The men fled into the bushes, and during the process, two loud explosions were heard. A search was conducted but they were not found,” the Police Force said in a statement.
About 22:30hrs last night, members of the community spotted the men on the Pearl Public Road and apprehended them. The police reported that during the process, it was alleged that one of the public spirited citizens shot Clarke and inflicted a beating on his accomplice. The men were handled over to the police, who rushed them to the Diamond Public Hospital, where Clarke was pronounced dead on arrival, whilst his accomplice was treated and sent away. He had since been taken into police custody and is assisting with the investigation.
