[www.inewsguyana.com] – A 31 – year – old Security Guard of Craig Public Road, East Bank Demerara was remanded to prison by Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry for the unlawful possession of firearm and ammunition.

Jermaine Chapman pleaded not guilty to both charges, which alleged that on October 17 at Arangoy Landing, Cuyuni River, he had his 9 mm Smith and Wesson pistol and ten live rounds of matching ammunition without being the holder of a license.

Police Prosecutor Michael Grant told the Court that on the day in question around 11:15 hrs, the defendant was walking when a police rank noticed something bulging out of his pants waist.

He was stopped by the said rank and a search revealed the firearm and ammunition in his possession. The case was transferred to the Bartica Magistrate’s Court for October 30.
