Minister of Social Cohesion, Amna Ally, has called on residents of Region Two (Pomeroon-Supenaam) to renew their resolve to fight inequality and division, even as she reiterated Government’s commitment to ensuring that every citizen is afforded a good life in Guyana.

The Minister was at the time speaking at the first ever ‘Supenaam/Good Hope Unity Fest’, which was held over the weekend in Essequibo.

According to Manager of Cosmos Promotions, Ms. Jennifer Jeffrey, the event was organised with the aim fostering unity among the young people and communities in the area.

“This event seeks to bring together persons from various ethnic groups and not ruling out religion, since my community is a diverse one, in the exhibition of cultures and talent, local produce and more. I believe this is a tangible way to reduce division among the people and to restore the pride of my community…,” Ms. Jeffrey said.

Minister Ally praised the initiative, saying that such activities are needed for the development of the young people of Guyana.

“You have demonstrated a will to be organised because in many communities we have young people who are not organised. Guyana is in good hands, the hands of the young people because you are the ones who are going to help to chart our destiny,” she said.

  1. This woman is another stooge for the APNU–her days are numbered too–can’t this dumb bat see that the APNU wants the public sector to be on one race–asap. So far they are doing quite well in achieving their goal 98% of one ethnic group–incompetence at its peak–what a way to go. Guyana is moving forward rapidly becoming like Haiti and sliding down the path of economic destruction…

  2. Amna Ally is in the PNC for Money! She does not care about the people or the development of Guyana! This woman has nothing sensible to say! All dunce…From Moses, Ramjattan, Amna, Granger and Harmon! Bunch of 4th grader running a country….god bless the economy which is heading under the Atlantic!

  3. The Ethnic Relations Commission should be reconstituted. This function does not belong with a government minister but in an independent body.

Minister, why don’t you ask yourself who caused the historical division and who is now responsible for the insecurities faced by one section of the population? Tell the people how many were dismissed from the civil service and give the reasons why. Tell the people who replaced those that were dismissed and how they are performing. Tell them about the performance head of GPL and why he is still in that position. Tell them why the head of GRA was sent home/dismissed and replaced by whom. Oh! There are too many instances where one section of the population have been victims of the ruthlessness of the APNU/AFC administration. Madam minister, tell the people the truth and repent then they MAY listen.
